Best For

  • Deflecting high-volume IT service desk requests like password resets and software access
  • Giving employees one conversational front door to HR, finance and facilities systems
  • Enterprise-wide search across SharePoint, Confluence, Google Drive and other knowledge sources
  • ServiceNow customers extending ITSM with a conversational assistant and agent marketplace
  • Global workforces that need employee support in many languages

Not Ideal For

  • Teams that need to go live in days, since deployments run around eight weeks and involve a dedicated vendor success team

Pros

  • Mature, widely deployed product with named Fortune 500 customers and multi-million-employee reach
  • Reviewers praise the conversational experience for routine IT requests and its Slack and Teams integration

Cons

  • G2 reviewers repeatedly cite integration complexity with ServiceNow, Workday and HR tools, some reporting they had to rebuild configurations
  • Responses turn generic or wrong on niche, nuanced or non-routine questions, forcing escalation to humans
  • Weak reporting and analytics make it hard to measure true resolution rates, per reviewers summarized by Rezolve.ai
  • No bring-your-own-LLM option, a steep configuration learning curve, and no published pricing

Moveworks is an enterprise AI assistant that lets employees search for answers and complete IT, HR, finance and facilities tasks by chatting in Slack, Microsoft Teams or a company portal. It is built for large enterprises that want one conversational front door to hundreds of back-office systems instead of a queue of service tickets.

Moveworks is an agentic AI platform for employee service and enterprise search, founded in 2016 in Mountain View, California by Bhavin Shah, Vaibhav Nivargi, Varun Singh and Jiang Chen. It began as IT support automation and, after a $200 million Series C in June 2021 at a $2.1 billion valuation, expanded into HR, finance and facilities. Its core is an agentic Reasoning Engine that plans, executes and adapts multi-step requests, surfaced through an AI Assistant available in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Webex, web portals and intranets in more than 100 languages. Around it sit Enterprise Search, Agent Studio and a no-code builder for custom agents, Knowledge Studio, Productivity Boost, Employee Experience Insights and a marketplace the company says holds more than 1,000 pre-built agents. The vendor reports 350+ customer organizations and more than 6 million employees served, naming CVS Health, Toyota North America, Instacart, Coca-Cola Consolidated, AkzoNobel, Procore and Micron, and cites an eight-week typical time to value. ServiceNow announced a $2.85 billion acquisition in March 2025, cleared a US antitrust second request, and closed the deal on December 15, 2025; at close Moveworks served 5.5 million employee users and shared roughly 250 customers with ServiceNow. ServiceNow has since folded the technology into EmployeeWorks (February 2026) and its Otto unified AI experience (May 2026) while continuing to sell Moveworks standalone. Pricing is unpublished and quoted per employee on total headcount; buyer-reported contracts on Vendr cluster around a $130,000 median annual value. On G2 it holds 4.4 out of 5 across 125 reviews, with integration effort and weak handling of non-routine questions the most repeated complaints.

Ideal Buyer

A CIO or head of employee experience at a 5,000+ employee company, especially a ServiceNow shop, that wants to deflect high-volume IT and HR tickets through Slack or Teams.

Key Benefit

Routine requests such as password resets, access requests and policy questions are resolved in chat without a human agent, across the whole workforce.

Key Features

  • Agentic Reasoning Engine

Plans, executes and adapts multi-step employee requests across connected systems rather than following fixed chatbot scripts.

  • Omnichannel AI Assistant

Runs inside Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Webex, web portals and intranets, so employees get help where they already work.

  • Enterprise Search

Finds answers across integrated business applications and knowledge bases and can act on them, replacing separate intranet and ticket searches.

  • Agent Studio and AI Agent Marketplace

Low-code and no-code tooling to build custom agents, plus a marketplace the vendor says has more than 1,000 pre-built agents.

  • Multilingual support

Serves employees in more than 100 languages, which matters for multinational workforces with a single central service desk.

  • Employee Experience Insights

Analytics on what employees ask and how requests resolve, intended to show where service and knowledge gaps sit.

  • Compliance posture

Reports ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA, GDPR and FedRAMP authorization, enabling deployment in healthcare, finance and government.

Use Cases

  • IT ticket deflection

Employees reset passwords, request software access and troubleshoot devices in Teams or Slack, cutting routine tickets that reach human agents.

  • HR policy and benefits questions

The assistant answers leave, payroll and benefits questions from HR systems and knowledge bases, freeing HR business partners for complex cases.

  • Enterprise knowledge search

Staff search SharePoint, Confluence, Google Drive and other sources from one chat box instead of hunting through separate intranets.

  • Custom departmental agents

Operations teams build agents in Agent Studio for workflows such as facilities requests or finance approvals, reusing existing integrations.

  • Unified front door on ServiceNow

ServiceNow customers pair Moveworks conversation with ServiceNow workflows through EmployeeWorks so chat requests become completed, tracked work.
