Notion Agents
by Notion Labs
Autonomous AI agents inside the Notion workspace that run on triggers and schedules for up to 24 hours, with a model router and credit-based pricing
Notion Agents are AI agents built into the Notion workspace: a personal Notion Agent for multi-step tasks and Custom Agents that run recurring work on triggers or schedules. They are for teams already on Notion Business or Enterprise that want Q&A, request routing and status reports automated without Zapier or Make.
Notion Agents is Notion's agent layer, made of the personal Notion Agent included in Business and Enterprise plans and Custom Agents, which teams set up by describing a job in plain language; the agent writes its own instructions, picks its tools and then runs on a trigger or schedule whether or not anyone is logged in. Custom Agents launched in public beta on February 24, 2026 for Business and Enterprise, with early testers building more than 21,000 agents, and connect to Notion, Slack, Mail, Calendar, Figma, Linear and custom MCP servers. Notion's launch examples include Ramp running more than 300 agents, Remote replacing its IT help desk with one agent and saving 20 hours a week, and Clay generating incident post-mortems. Agents became paid on May 4, 2026, consuming Notion credits at $10 per 1,000. On October 19, 2026 Notion rebuilt the agent harness: agents now get their own computer and browser, can work for up to 24 hours (up from about five minutes), and have a "Review for me" mode in which a separate model checks actions before they run. The same release added the Auto router, which Notion says matches results from Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost across 20+ tasks, one credit system across Notion AI, connections to ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plans, Bring Your Own Key in Enterprise private alpha, memory sync and an overhauled Notion MCP. Admins control what each agent can access, every run is logged and reversible, and Enterprise gets zero data retention with LLM providers. It competes with Microsoft 365 Copilot agents, Atlassian Rovo, Glean agents and Coda.
Operations, IT and team leads at companies already on Notion Business or Enterprise whose wikis, project databases and request queues live in Notion and Slack.
Recurring work such as answering repeat questions, routing requests and compiling status reports runs in the background on a trigger, with every run logged and reversible.

Key Features
- ✓Custom Agents
Describe a recurring job in plain language and Notion builds an agent that runs it on a trigger or schedule in the background.
- ✓24-hour agent harness
Since October 19, 2026 agents get their own computer and browser and can work on a single task for up to 24 hours.
- ✓Review for me
A separate model checks an agent's actions before they are taken, adding a safety step for unattended runs.
- ✓Auto model router
Routes simple requests to fast models and harder ones to stronger models; Notion claims similar results at about 90% lower average cost.
- ✓Admin controls and audit trail
Admins set what each agent can access and edit and who can build agents; every run is logged and changes are reversible.
- ✓Integrations and MCP
Agents act in Notion, Slack, Mail, Calendar, Figma, Linear and custom MCP servers, and external agents can use Notion through Notion MCP.
- ✓Bring your own AI
Personal agents can use a connected ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plan, and Enterprise can test Bring Your Own Key in private alpha.
Capabilities
Use Cases
- •IT help desk agent
Remote replaced its IT help desk with a single agent that answers employee requests, saving the team about 20 hours each week.
- •Product question answering
Ramp's "Product Oracle" agent answers daily roadmap and feature questions from Notion docs so product managers stop fielding the same queries.
- •Incident post-mortems
Clay's Incident Reporter agent drafts post-mortems with root causes and corrective actions after each incident, shortening the write-up cycle.
- •Upgrade-ready account reports
Braintrust's Deal Spotter agent sends a weekly report of accounts ready for an upgrade, giving sales a ranked list without manual pulls.
- •Feedback routing
An agent captures incoming product feedback, classifies it and files it to the right team, which is Notion's own most-used agent.
Ideal For
Best For
- ✓Internal help desks that answer repeat IT, HR or product questions from a Notion knowledge base
- ✓Routing incoming requests and feedback from Slack or forms to the right team database
- ✓Scheduled status reports and weekly briefings compiled from project databases
- ✓Incident post-mortems and other documents assembled from scattered notes and tools
- ✓Teams replacing simple Zapier or Make automations that touch Notion data
Not Ideal For
- ✗Companies not on Notion Business or Enterprise; Custom Agents need those plans plus purchased credits
- ✗Teams that need a fixed AI budget: credit use depends on the task, unused credits do not roll over, and Notion's AI Command Center for per-person spend limits is still listed as coming soon
- ✗Deterministic, high-volume integrations, which a practitioner guide recommends moving to plain automations because agents bill every run in credits

Market & Ratings
More than 21,000 Custom Agents built by early testers (Notion, February 2026)
Market Analysis
Pros
- ✓No separate tool to adopt for teams already on Notion; agents work on existing pages and databases
- ✓Strong enterprise controls: SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA BAA, SAML SSO, SCIM, customer-managed keys and zero data retention on Enterprise
- ✓Named production examples at Ramp, Remote, Braintrust and Clay
- ✓October 2026 harness supports long-running tasks with a separate review model
Cons
- ✗Costs are hard to forecast: credit use varies by task, unused credits expire monthly, and a few agents tend to consume most of the spend (Matthias Frank, 2026)
- ✗Leaving models on Auto removes an explicit cost choice, and monolithic agents are billed at their most demanding step's model, per the same practitioner guide
- ✗Journal du Geek notes the move to paid credits makes Notion's free tier less generous and could cool adoption
- ✗Spend controls are incomplete: the AI Command Center for per-person usage and spending limits was still "coming soon" in October 2026
