Samsara Agent Studio
by Samsara Inc.
No-code builder for chat and voice AI agents that run on Samsara fleet and field operations data
Samsara Agent Studio is a no-code builder for chat and voice AI agents that act on the vehicle, equipment, video and driver data in Samsara's connected operations platform. It is for fleet, safety and operations managers who want to automate reporting, hours-of-service compliance checks and driver communication without IT or developer help.
Samsara Agent Studio is the agent layer of Samsara's connected operations cloud, used by transportation, construction, utilities, field services and public sector operators. Samsara introduced it on June 24, 2026 at its Beyond conference with more than 15 prebuilt templates for safety and maintenance, and made it generally available to all customers on October 13, 2026 after an open beta; FreightWaves reports it is included in existing Samsara subscriptions. Builders start from a template or from scratch, switch capabilities on or off, set permissions, add company policies and documents as a knowledge base, preview behaviour before deployment and track outcomes on a performance dashboard. Agents read vehicle location, diagnostics, dash cam video and driver behaviour data, and can run on demand or on triggers such as a truck entering or leaving a geofence. Voice agents place and receive calls, for example giving drivers entrance, parking and yard speed instructions at an unfamiliar facility, and work hands-free through dash cams, which fits federal rules against handheld phone use while driving. Samsara reports roughly 500,000 agent interactions in 16 days versus 112 days for the first 500,000, more than 1,000 organisations using agents weekly, and voice overtaking chat within four weeks. Customer results it cites include Grand Isle Shipyard (report preparation down about 99%), S. Bertram Foods (84% less weekly manual hours-of-service review) and StreamTech Industrial (500 fewer hours of unassigned driving in two months). Samsara Assistant and Samsara MCP, which exposes data to ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot, sit alongside it.
A fleet, safety or operations director at a company already running Samsara telematics, who wants to automate routine reporting and driver communication without an IT project.
Custom agents on live fleet data that flag compliance risks early and take repetitive reporting and driver calls off dispatch and safety staff.

Key Features
- ✓No-code agent builder
Operations staff create agents from scratch or from 15+ prebuilt safety and maintenance templates without developer or IT involvement.
- ✓Voice agents
Agents place and receive phone calls and work hands-free through dash cams, so drivers get instructions without handling a phone.
- ✓Event triggers on operational data
Agents fire on conditions like geofence entry or exit and read location, diagnostics, video and driver behaviour data in real time.
- ✓Policy knowledge base
Company policies and documents can be attached to an agent so answers to drivers follow the fleet's own rules.
- ✓Preview, permissions and performance dashboard
Builders set permissions, preview agent behaviour before deployment and track usage and outcomes after launch on a dashboard.
- ✓Samsara MCP
Brings authorised Samsara data into ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot under each customer's existing permissions.
Capabilities
Use Cases
- •Hours-of-service risk alerts
S. Bertram Foods flags likely violations three hours ahead and reports cutting weekly manual review time by 84%.
- •Automated compliance reporting
Grand Isle Shipyard compiles forms, inspections and asset data into monthly reports in about five minutes per division.
- •Driver arrival instructions
A voice agent calls drivers approaching an unfamiliar facility with entrance, parking, yard speed and safety equipment rules, then answers follow-ups.
- •Unassigned driving cleanup
StreamTech Industrial uses an agent to find trips without driver logins and reports 500 fewer unassigned driving hours in two months.
Ideal For
Best For
- ✓Flagging potential hours-of-service violations hours before they occur
- ✓Automating monthly inspection, compliance and asset reports from fleet data
- ✓Voice agents that brief drivers on facility entry, parking and safety rules when they cross a geofence
- ✓Answering driver questions on company policy, personal conveyance and fuel stops
- ✓Finding unassigned driving trips where drivers did not log in to their vehicles
Not Ideal For
- ✗Organisations not on Samsara hardware and software; agents depend on Samsara's own vehicle, video and driver data
- ✗Fleets that need flexible or short contracts; reviewers report 36-month terms with auto-renewal and little room to downsize
- ✗Teams wanting a general-purpose agent builder for office workflows outside physical operations

Market Analysis
Pros
- ✓No added cost for existing Samsara customers, per FreightWaves
- ✓Usable by operations staff without developers, with templates to start from
- ✓Built on live telematics and video data, so agents can act on real fleet conditions
- ✓Fast adoption reported: the latest 500,000 interactions took 16 days versus 112 for the first
Cons
- ✗Contract lock-in is the top complaint about Samsara: reviews aggregated by CheckThat.ai cite 36-month terms, surprise auto-renewal charges and renewal rates two to three times the original price
- ✗Customer savings figures are supplied by Samsara; FreightWaves notes limited evidence of how widely agents are deployed or whether savings last
- ✗G2 reviewers tag inaccuracy and false-positive alerts often, which matters when agents act on the same signals
- ✗Only useful inside the Samsara ecosystem, and some features need paid hardware add-ons such as dash cams and driver ID fobs
