Hyro is a healthcare-specific agentic AI platform whose voice, chat and SMS agents handle patient access work such as scheduling, prescription refills, billing questions and call routing. It is built for health system contact centers and patient access leaders who want to cut call wait times without adding staff.

Hyro is a healthcare communications AI company founded in 2018 by Israel Krush (CEO) and Rom Cohen (COO) out of the Cornell Tech Startup Studio, with Weill Cornell as its first client. Its Agents OnCue handle patient conversations across phone, web chat, SMS and mobile apps, covering scheduling, registration, provider search, call routing, billing, prescription refills and FAQs, and pass harder cases to a human agent with context. The platform combines knowledge graphs, large language models and proprietary healthcare small language models, with administrators controlling the knowledge sources agents draw on, and it integrates with EHRs such as Epic, CRMs including Salesforce, and telephony and contact center systems. Proactive Px adds two-way outbound outreach, and a Care Intelligence dashboard reports on interaction data. On October 21, 2026 Hyro rebranded around Care OnCue and said the platform is extending beyond patient access into IT service management, revenue cycle and basic clinical support. Hyro reports more than 300 million care interactions across 2,500 hospitals, clinics and facilities and says it is live at more than 50 enterprise health systems; named customers include Baptist Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Tampa General Hospital, Inova, Intermountain Health, Piedmont Healthcare and Prisma Health. It is HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 Type 2 attested. In October 2025 Hyro raised a $45M growth round led by Healthier Capital with Norwest, Define Ventures, Bon Secours Mercy Health and ServiceNow Ventures, bringing total funding to $95M.

Key Features

  • ✓
    Agents OnCue

Voice, chat and SMS AI agents that complete patient requests like scheduling, refills and billing questions end to end.

  • ✓
    EHR integration

Connects to Epic and other EHRs so agents act on real appointment and patient data instead of only answering FAQs.

  • ✓
Healthcare language models with knowledge graphs

Pairs large models with proprietary healthcare small language models and knowledge graphs, with admins controlling which sources agents use.

  • ✓
    Human handoff with context

When an agent cannot finish a task, the conversation passes to a live staff member along with what has already been gathered.

  • ✓
    Proactive Px outreach

Two-way omnichannel outbound messaging for reminders and follow-ups, aimed at cutting no-shows and missed screenings.

  • ✓
    Care Intelligence dashboard

Built-in analytics on interaction data so patient access teams can see volumes, outcomes and where agents hand off.

Use Cases

  • •
    Contact center deflection

Routine calls such as registration, routing and FAQs, which Hyro puts at 60-70% of contact center volume, are resolved by agents before reaching staff.

  • •
    Self-service appointment scheduling

Patients book, reschedule or cancel appointments by phone or chat while the agent writes the change into the EHR.

  • •
    Prescription refill requests

The agent takes refill requests over voice or SMS and routes them correctly, freeing staff from a high-volume routine call type.

  • •
    IT helpdesk for clinical staff

Health systems use Hyro for IT service management tickets, one of the workflows the October 2026 rebrand says it is deepening.

  • •
    Outbound care reminders

Proactive outreach reminds patients about appointments and screenings, with two-way replies handled by the same agents.
