AI contract lifecycle management with agents grounded in your own deal history
Ironclad is a contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform for legal, procurement and sales teams at mid-size and large companies. It drafts, routes, redlines, signs and stores contracts, and its AI agents answer questions and review new paper against the positions your company has already negotiated, so contract knowledge stops living only in lawyers' heads.
Ironclad is a San Francisco contract lifecycle management vendor founded in 2014 and led since 2025 by former Docusign CEO Dan Springer. The core product covers the full contract path: a no-code Workflow Designer for intake, approvals and routing, in-browser and external redlining, native and integrated e-signature, and a searchable repository that extracts clause and metadata fields from executed agreements. On October 8, 2026 Ironclad launched Ironclad Agent, a single conversational interface where legal, procurement and sales users search contracts, ask questions and coordinate specialised agents. It runs on a new Contract Knowledge Graph that links clauses, obligations, counterparty positions and past negotiation decisions across a customer's contracts, so the context survives when the people who negotiated a deal leave. The same release added Policy-Based Access Control, which replaces one-off role permissions with shared policies (for example, regional teams seeing only their region's contracts), a Workflow Designer Agent that edits approval and escalation flows from a plain-language description, and a Contract Review Agent that redlines against approved positions. Ironclad says it passed $200M in annual recurring revenue in February 2026, up from about $150M a year earlier, and names customers including Associated Press, Canva, Databricks, L'Oreal and Notion. It is hosted on Google Cloud and competes with Icertis, Agiloft, Conga and Docusign CLM at the enterprise end of the market.
A general counsel or legal operations lead at a company processing high contract volume across sales and procurement, who needs one system of record plus AI review tied to the company's own playbook.
Contract review and contract questions get answered against your company's prior deals and approved positions; one customer quoted at launch cut an 80-page MSA risk review from about three hours to about 20 minutes.

Key Features
- ✓Ironclad Agent
A single conversational interface for searching contracts, asking questions about terms and coordinating specialised agents across every contracting stage.
- ✓Contract Knowledge Graph
Links clauses, obligations, counterparty positions and past negotiation decisions so agent answers reflect your company's own deal history rather than generic legal knowledge.
- ✓Contract Review Agent
Redlines incoming contracts against approved positions and deal history, flagging risks for a lawyer to accept or reject before signature.
- ✓Workflow Designer and Workflow Designer Agent
No-code builder for intake, approval and escalation flows; the agent now applies changes, including bulk edits, from a plain-language description.
- ✓Policy-Based Access Control
Replaces many one-off role permissions with shared policies, so for example a regional team sees only the contracts relevant to that region.
- ✓Repository with AI extraction
Bulk-imports executed contracts and extracts clause and custom metadata fields, which then feed search, reporting and renewal tracking.
- ✓Public API and integrations
A public CLM API plus connectors for Salesforce, Coupa, NetSuite, SAP, Slack, Microsoft Word, Docusign and iPaaS tools such as MuleSoft and Zapier.
Capabilities
Use Cases
- •Third-party paper review
Legal runs incoming vendor or customer contracts through the Contract Review Agent, which redlines against the playbook so lawyers only handle real deviations.
- •Contract question answering
Sales or procurement staff ask Ironclad Agent what was agreed with a counterparty, and get an answer grounded in the signed contracts instead of emailing legal.
- •Approval workflow changes
Legal ops describes a new escalation rule in plain language and the Workflow Designer Agent updates the routing across many workflows at once.
- •Obligation and renewal tracking
Procurement uses extracted metadata to surface upcoming renewals, deadlines and savings opportunities across the contract repository before they lapse.
- •Sales contract self-service
Reps generate standard agreements from Salesforce, route them for approval and send for signature without legal drafting each one.
Ideal For
Best For
- ✓Legal teams that redline a steady flow of MSAs, NDAs and vendor paper against a standard playbook
- ✓Procurement teams that want contract obligations, renewals and savings surfaced from the repository
- ✓Sales organisations that need contract generation and approvals wired into Salesforce
- ✓Companies replacing a legacy CLM or shared-drive contract storage with a single searchable repository
- ✓Regionally split legal teams that need policy-based visibility over who can see which contracts
Not Ideal For
- ✗Small businesses with modest contract volume: pricing is quote-only and third-party estimates start in the tens of thousands of dollars a year
- ✗Teams without an admin who can own setup, since reviewers repeatedly cite a steep learning curve and complex initial configuration
- ✗Organisations that need phone-based support, as reviewers describe support as leaning toward self-serve resources
- ✗Buyers who want published accuracy benchmarks for the AI review features; Ironclad's productivity figures are vendor-reported

Market Analysis
Pros
- ✓Covers the full contract lifecycle in one platform: intake, workflow, redlining, e-signature and repository
- ✓Passed $200M ARR with growth just under 40% year on year (February 2026), so the vendor is not a funding risk
- ✓Broad integration catalogue and public API, including Salesforce, procurement suites and iPaaS tools
- ✓Security posture includes SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001/27017/27018, GDPR and HIPAA
Cons
- ✗Reviewers cite a steep learning curve and complex initial setup for admins new to CLM
- ✗Search across the repository is the most-cited complaint in aggregated G2 review themes
- ✗No published pricing, and third-party estimates make it expensive for small teams
- ✗AI productivity and accuracy figures are vendor-reported; human review of AI suggestions is still required

Ironclad publishes no list prices. Sacra describes the model as mainly per-user subscriptions on annual or multi-year contracts, often landing with one use case such as NDAs before expanding. Third-party estimates vary widely: a HyperStart guide puts typical totals around $25,000 to $75,000+ a year, and cost also depends on implementation packages and premium integrations. Pricing for the October 2026 agents was not disclosed.
