Granola is an AI notepad for meetings, built by a London company founded in 2023 by Chris Pedregal (CEO) and Sam Stephenson. Most meeting assistants send a visible bot into the call. Granola instead captures the computer's own audio, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and other meeting apps without a bot appearing. The user can type as few or as many notes as they like during the meeting. When the meeting ends, Granola combines those notes with the transcript to produce structured notes, action items and follow-ups, and it keeps the user's typed points prominent rather than burying them in a generic summary. Before a meeting it syncs the calendar and builds a Brief covering attendees and earlier conversations. AI chat works inside a single meeting and across all of them. Granola launched in May 2024 and has since added iOS (May 2025), Windows (June 2025), Recipes chat features (October 2025), Android and an Apple Watch app. According to its security page, it stores transcripts and notes but not audio. Desktop transcription happens in real time, while mobile uses temporarily cached audio. Data sits in a US-hosted AWS VPC, encrypted at rest and in transit, and Granola holds a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation. In March 2026 it raised a $125M Series C led by Index Ventures at a $1.5B valuation, bringing total funding to $192M. At the same time it launched Spaces (team workspaces), personal and enterprise APIs, and an updated MCP server, moving from a prosumer notetaker toward an enterprise context layer. Named customers include Vanta, Gusto, Asana, Thumbtack, Cursor and Mistral AI. It competes with Fireflies, Read AI and Otter.
