Atlassian Rovo
by Atlassian
Atlassian's AI search, chat and agent layer across Jira, Confluence and connected apps, metered in pooled Rovo credits
Atlassian Rovo is the AI layer built into Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management cloud plans, combining enterprise search, chat, configurable agents and a builder studio over Atlassian's Teamwork Graph. It is for organizations already on Atlassian Cloud that want AI grounded in their tickets, pages and connected tools.
Atlassian Rovo is Atlassian's AI product for knowledge work and software teams. First shown in April 2024, it became generally available at Team '24 Europe on October 9, 2024 with Search, Chat, a browser extension and about 20 prebuilt agents. Its original pricing ($20 to $24 per user per month) was replaced in 2025 by bundling Rovo into Standard, Premium and Enterprise cloud subscriptions. Rovo Search spans Jira, Confluence and connected third-party apps such as Google Drive and Slack while respecting each user's existing permissions. Rovo Chat answers questions from that content inside the Atlassian apps, and agents can generate content, review work and, with permission, edit Jira work items and Confluence pages. At Team '26 on May 6, 2026 Atlassian made Rovo Studio (agents, automations and Forge apps from natural-language prompts) and Agents in Jira (agents that own work items with an audit trail) generally available, and put Teamwork Graph tools in the Rovo MCP Server into open beta so MCP-compatible assistants can use that context. Usage is metered in Rovo credits: 25, 70 or 150 credits per user per month on Jira and Confluence Standard, Premium and Enterprise, pooled across the organization, with basic interactions costing 10 credits. Overage at $0.01 per credit starts billing on December 3, 2026, and extra usage is on by default. Data Center customers do not get the full feature set. Atlassian shows Reddit, Mercedes-Benz, Cisco, Procore and HarperCollins among Rovo customers. In August 2026 PromptArmor published an unpatched prompt-injection exfiltration path through Rovo's URL retrieval tool.
CIOs and Atlassian platform owners at companies already standardized on Jira and Confluence Cloud who want AI search and agents without adding another vendor.
AI answers and agents grounded in the organization's own Jira tickets, Confluence pages and connected apps, with user permissions enforced and no separate purchase.

A conversational assistant inside Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management and the browser extension that answers questions from the organization's own content.

Agents can draft, review and, with permission, edit work items; since May 2026 they can own Jira work items with an audit trail.

- ✓Rovo MCP Server
Exposes Teamwork Graph context to MCP-compatible AI assistants in open beta, letting outside tools use Atlassian data under admin controls.
- ✓Pooled credit governance
Credits pool across the organization with alerts at 80% and 100%, spending caps, and governance views showing agents and their credit use.
Capabilities
Use Cases
- •Finding answers across tools
Employees ask one question and get an answer drawn from Jira, Confluence and connected apps instead of searching each system separately.
- •Bug reporting to fix
Loom recordings with Jira capture device, console and network data for a bug and hand the draft fix to Rovo Dev, generally available since Team '26.
- •Turning documents into work
Create with Rovo in Jira (beta) converts documents, summaries and email threads into Jira work items so planning notes become tracked tasks.
- •Strategy risk signals
Strategic Intelligence in Focus uses Rovo agents to generate signals on strategy status and risk, in open beta from June 2026.
- •Self-service help before escalation
Teams use Rovo to answer questions from their wiki and Jira history before escalating to a colleague, as one Hacker News user described.
Ideal For
Best For
- ✓Enterprise search across Jira, Confluence and connected SaaS tools for teams already on Atlassian Cloud
- ✓Drafting and triaging Jira work items and Confluence pages with agents
- ✓Building low-code agents and automations in Rovo Studio for internal processes
- ✓Feeding Atlassian context to external AI assistants through the Rovo MCP Server
- ✓Service desk teams using Jira Service Management that want AI answers from their knowledge base
Not Ideal For
- ✗Atlassian Data Center customers, who do not receive the full Rovo feature set and must move to Cloud to get it
- ✗Security-sensitive organizations that cannot accept an unresolved prompt-injection exfiltration finding until Atlassian publishes a fix
- ✗Companies whose knowledge mostly lives outside Atlassian, where a dedicated enterprise search product such as Glean may index more of it
Deployment
Market Analysis
Pros
- ✓No extra purchase for Atlassian Cloud customers on paid plans
- ✓Permission-aware search across Atlassian and connected tools
- ✓Fast-moving roadmap: Studio, Agents in Jira and an MCP server shipped or entered beta in 2026
- ✓Admin controls for spending caps and AI access separate from agent-building rights
Cons
- ✗PromptArmor disclosed a zero-click prompt-injection exfiltration path in May 2026 that bypasses disabled web search, and reported it still unpatched when published on August 5, 2026
- ✗Credit pricing is hard to budget, premium interactions have no fixed rate, and overage billing switches on by default from December 3, 2026
- ✗Hacker News users report unreliable results, including missed Confluence pages and an edit that erased a page
- ✗Atlassian's plan to use customer data to train AI drew criticism because full opt-out reportedly requires the Enterprise plan

Rovo has no separate price; it comes with paid Standard, Premium and Enterprise cloud plans of Jira, Confluence and the Collections, and the Rovo pricing page does not list those seat prices. Each tier includes a monthly per-user credit allowance pooled across the organization. A basic interaction costs 10 credits, premium features such as advanced agents cost a variable amount, and overage is $0.01 per credit. Overage billing starts December 3, 2026 with extra usage switched on by default, so admins should set a cap before then. Data Center does not get the full Rovo feature set.
