  • ✓Security operations automation such as alert triage, enrichment and phishing response
  • ✓IT help desk and identity workflows that span many SaaS tools
  • ✓Governing employee-built AI apps and agents, including ones written in Codex or Claude Code
  • ✓Organizations that need self-hosted automation for regulatory reasons such as FedRAMP

  • ✗Small teams on tight budgets; reviewers repeatedly call Tines expensive, and paid pricing is only available through a demo
  • ✗Buyers who need a large catalogue of prebuilt app templates for marketing or sales ops, where Zapier or Workato are more established
  • ✗Organizations without the discipline to name, document and test large workflows, since reviewers say big Stories become hard to browse and debug

Market Analysis

Tines is a workflow automation platform from Dublin that started with security teams and now covers IT and general employees. Its July 2026 product, Tines 3B, lets staff describe an app, agent or automation in plain English and have it built using only approved systems, with IT controlling access, credentials and spend.

Tines is an intelligent workflow platform founded in Dublin in 2018 by Eoin Hinchy and Thomas Kinsella. It began as a no-code automation tool for security operations teams (alert triage, phishing response, enrichment) and by early 2025 about 30% of its customers used it for IT, infrastructure and operations. In February 2025 it raised a $125 million Series C led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives at a $1.125 billion valuation, bringing total funding to $272 million; at the time it reported more than one billion automated actions a week. Its AI features run on AWS Bedrock, and Tines describes them as stateless, tenant-scoped and geo-bound, with no training, storage or logging of customer data; customers can also bring their own model. The AI Agent action supports MCP both as a client and as a server. On July 28, 2026 Tines launched Tines 3B, its first product aimed at employees outside security and IT, to govern what it calls "Wild Code": AI-generated software that staff build outside IT processes. In 3B an employee describes the workflow in natural language and the platform builds it against systems IT has authorized. Each step runs in a disposable sandbox, credentials are injected through a proxy so neither the builder nor the model sees secrets, and Auto-Tune and Auto-Fix monitor and repair running workflows. A single console shows every app, agent and automation, including ones built in Codex or Claude Code, with cost, access, spend limits and an estimated value of time saved. The original no-code product continues as Tines Stories. Named customers include Coinbase, SAP, Experian, Reddit, Notion Labs, Mars and Fin.

Ideal Buyer

CIOs and heads of IT or security operations who are watching employees build AI apps and agents outside IT and want one governed place for building, running and monitoring them.

Key Benefit

Employees can ship their own automations and agents while IT keeps control of credentials, access and spend from one console.

Key Features

  • ✓
    Tines 3B natural-language builder

Employees describe an app, agent or automation in plain English and 3B builds it using only tools and data the organization has authorized.

  • ✓
    Disposable sandboxed execution

Each workflow step runs in an isolated environment that is discarded after execution, which limits the blast radius of a broken or malicious step.

  • ✓
    Credential proxy

Secrets are injected through a proxy so neither the person building nor the underlying AI model ever sees passwords or API keys.

  • ✓
    Central governance console

One dashboard lists every app, agent and automation with its cost, owner, access and usage, and lets leaders set spend limits and find duplicates.

  • ✓
    Auto-Tune and Auto-Fix

Running workflows are monitored for improvements, and broken ones are repaired automatically so edge cases do not silently stop automations.

  • ✓
    AI Agent action with MCP

Agents inside workflows can call external MCP servers as tools, and Tines can expose its own workflows to assistants such as Claude Desktop.

  • ✓
    Private AI on AWS Bedrock

AI features are stateless and tenant-scoped with no training, storage or logging of customer data, or customers can bring their own model.

Capabilities

✓text generation
✗image generation
✗video generation
✓code generation
✓workflow automation
✓api access
✗audio generation
✗fine tuning
✓agent orchestration

Use Cases

  • •
    Phishing response

Security teams automate intake, analysis and remediation of reported phishing emails so analysts handle only the cases that need judgment.

  • •
    Multi-agent security investigation

AI agents enrich and investigate alerts across security tools under defined controls, with humans approving actions where policy requires it.

  • •
    Employee-built internal apps

Fin is rolling out 3B so staff can build their own automations, and cited its credential protection and access controls as the deciding factors.

  • •
    IT help desk copilot

Employees ask questions and trigger IT requests through chat or Slack, and the agent runs the approved workflow behind the request.

  • •
Governing work done in coding assistants

Teams that build with Codex or Claude Code use 3B only to run, monitor and control what they produced alongside everything else.
