Sema4.ai is an enterprise AI agent platform founded in 2024 by a team drawn from Hortonworks, Cloudera, Docker and SpringSource, led by CEO Rob Bearden, and formed alongside the January 2024 acquisition of Finnish automation company Robocorp, whose Python action runtime became the platform's execution layer. Team Edition is metered at $15 per agent per day and you are only charged for agents that are running, so pausing idle agents genuinely reduces the bill. The important caveat is that this sits on top of Snowflake SPCS and Cortex charges, which independent analysis argues are the larger and less predictable half - roughly $0.13 per Cortex Analyst message with retries billed again, plus about $12.60 per GB per month for Cortex Search serving whether or not an agent queries it.
