About This Event

RLDM 2027, the 7th Multi-disciplinary Conference on Reinforcement Learning and Decision Making, runs 6-9 July 2027 at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris, France. RLDM is deliberately non-archival and cross-disciplinary: it puts reinforcement learning researchers from artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems and robotics alongside cognitive scientists, neuroscientists, psychologists, behavioural economists and ethologists, on the premise that all of them study learning and decision making. The programme mixes invited talks, contributed talks, poster presentations, workshops, tutorials and social activities. Anne G.E. Collins chairs the 2027 edition, with David Abel and Matt Nassar as programme chairs and Silvia Tulli and Valentin Wyart running local organisation. Earlier editions were held in Princeton, Edmonton, Ann Arbor, Montreal, Providence and Dublin, making Paris the first French edition.

  • Machine learning researchers
  • AI research leads
  • Computational neuroscientists
  • Robotics and autonomous systems engineers

  • Cognitive scientists

Why Attend

Reinforcement learning is what turns a language model into an agent that improves from feedback, and RLDM is where the people doing that work compare notes with the people who study how humans and animals actually decide. For a VP of AI or a research lead the payoff is talent and direction rather than procurement: a compact single-venue conference in Paris where you can meet the RL researchers your team wants to hire, and hear the reward-modelling, exploration and credit-assignment work that reaches production systems a year or two later. The non-archival format means people present what they are working on now.

Event Features

  • Invited talks spanning the AI/ML and neuroscience sides of the field
  • Contributed talk sessions from non-archival submissions
  • Poster presentation sessions
  • Workshop programme
  • Tutorial programme
  • 2027 edition chaired by Anne G.E. Collins, with David Abel and Matt Nassar as programme chairs

What Makes This Unique

  • Explicitly cross-disciplinary — AI, ML and robotics researchers sitting with neuroscience, psychology and behavioural economics, which no other reinforcement learning venue does at this scale
  • Non-archival by design, so researchers present in-progress work they would not submit to NeurIPS or ICML
  • Small and infrequent: the seventh edition in fourteen years, run as a single-venue meeting rather than a mega-conference
  • Held at the Maison de la Chimie in central Paris — the first French edition after Princeton, Edmonton, Ann Arbor, Montreal, Providence and Dublin
