NDSS Symposium 2027 — Network and Distributed System Security
by Internet Society
One of the world's four top-tier academic security conferences, in Seoul for the first time
About This Event
The 2027 Network and Distributed System Security (NDSS) Symposium takes place 22-26 March 2027 in Seoul, Republic of Korea — the first time the Internet Society has taken the symposium to the Asia-Pacific region. NDSS is one of the four venues the security research community treats as top-tier alongside IEEE S&P, USENIX Security and ACM CCS, and it is the one most oriented toward network and distributed systems: anti-malware technique, cyber attack prevention, network security policy, cloud and mobile and IoT security, cyber-physical systems, blockchain security, usable security, and privacy and anonymity, across more than twenty declared areas of interest. The 2026 edition drew 674 participants from 33 countries, and Asia-Pacific participation has grown more than 60% over the preceding three years, which is the stated reason for the move. The symposium runs two review cycles a year plus co-located workshops, artifacts and posters.

Topics & Focus Areas
Who Should Attend
- ✓CISOs and heads of security research
- ✓Security architects and detection engineers
- ✓AI/ML security and red-team leads
- ✓Product security and platform infrastructure teams
- ✓Government and critical-infrastructure security staff
- ✓Academic security researchers and PhD students
Why Attend
NDSS is where the attack classes your detection stack will be chasing in two years get their first rigorous public description — including, increasingly, attacks on and via machine learning systems. For a CISO or head of security research, the value is calibration: five days of adversarial results from people with no product to sell, against which you can sanity-check what your vendors claim. It is small enough to actually meet the authors, and a Seoul edition puts APAC security teams, Korean carriers and regional regulators in reach in a way a Las Vegas expo never does.
Event Features
- ✓Main symposium track across 24+ declared areas of interest
- ✓Machine learning security and privacy as a first-class topic area
- ✓Two-cycle peer review with early-reject notification and author rebuttal
- ✓Co-located workshops programme
- ✓Artifacts track for evaluated, reusable research code
- ✓Posters track
What Makes This Unique
- ★One of only four conferences the security research community treats as top-tier, and the one weighted toward network and distributed systems rather than cryptography or theory
- ★First Asia-Pacific edition in the symposium's history, chosen because APAC participation grew more than 60% in three years
- ★Deliberately small — 674 participants from 33 countries in 2026 — so the ratio of authors to attendees is far higher than at a commercial security expo
- ★Two submission cycles per year with an early-reject stage and author rebuttal, which is why NDSS work tends to land already hardened
- ★Run by the Internet Society rather than a vendor, so the programme is not shaped by sponsor product roadmaps
