Trase is a governed agentic AI platform from Trase Systems, a McLean, Virginia company incubated at the Red Cell Partners venture studio and led by co-founder and CEO Grant Verstandig, with former AWS AI/ML vice president Baskar Sridharan as president. Development began in fall 2024; Trase emerged from stealth in November 2025 with a $10.5 million pre-seed from Red Cell and Virginia Venture Partners, and on June 25, 2026 announced a $107 million seed round led by ARCH Venture Partners with Red Cell participating, when it reported 55 staff across Washington, D.C.-area and Seattle hubs. The product has three layers: Trase Origin, an agent operating system that acts as one control plane for Trase and third-party agents, with policy enforcement, run budgets, role-based access, human approval gates, cost controls and an immutable audit trail exportable as a signed pack; Trase Arena, an SDK for building custom agents on that runtime; and Trase Leagues, a marketplace of pre-built agents for work such as prior authorization, claims scrubbing, credentialing, referral management and nurse rostering. Origin runs in a customer VPC, on premises or at the edge, and the vendor says it is model-agnostic so teams can switch models, including smaller language models, without rebuilding agents; its government page claims air-gapped deployment.
