Oracle AI Agent Studio is the design-and-build environment for creating AI agents and agent teams that run inside Oracle Fusion Applications. It gives Fusion customers and partners templates, prompt libraries, RAG, MCP and A2A support, and an observability dashboard, and it is bundled into every Fusion Cloud subscription rather than sold as a separate product.

Use Cases

  • Custom finance approval agent
  • HR service desk agent
  • Partner-built vertical agents
  • Agent performance monitoring
  • Human-in-the-loop procurement workflow

Ideal For

Best For

  • Fusion Applications customers extending Oracle's 600+ pre-built agents with organisation-specific logic
  • Teams that need RAG over enterprise sources such as SharePoint alongside Fusion transactional data
  • Building deterministic, human-in-the-loop workflows where an agent must stop for approval at defined points
  • Oracle implementation partners packaging validated vertical agents for the Fusion AI Agent Marketplace
  • Enterprises that want model choice across OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Google, Meta and xAI behind one governance layer

Not Ideal For

  • Organisations not running Oracle Fusion Applications — the studio is bundled with and scoped to that suite, so there is no standalone value
  • Multi-vendor agent orchestration: Gartner's Balaji Abbabatulla specifically raised concerns about usefulness beyond Oracle's ecosystem
  • Teams wanting maximum framework flexibility, where Futurum's Dion Hinchcliffe questioned the studio's flexibility against AWS or IBM agent frameworks
  • Buyers expecting fully autonomous decision-making — analysts characterise the current output as closer to sophisticated workflow automation

Market Analysis

Enterprise-gradeEmbedded in system of recordBundled pricingPartner ecosystem

Pros

  • Zero incremental licence cost for Fusion customers, which removes the usual procurement barrier to piloting agents
  • Governance comes from the suite itself — role-based access, approval frameworks and full traceability rather than a separate policy engine
  • Genuine model portability across OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Google, Meta and xAI, plus MCP and A2A for external tools and agents
  • Production-grade observability with session, latency, error and token-usage tracking, plus tracing and agent evaluation
  • IDC's Arnal Dayaratna notes agents built here are security- and performance-vetted 'from the outset'

Cons

  • Futurum's Dion Hinchcliffe characterised the offering as 'more workflow automation than true agentic behavior' and questioned its flexibility against AWS or IBM frameworks
  • Amalgam Insights' Hyoun Park said it focuses on basic task automation rather than autonomous decision-making, and that pre-built templates constrain genuinely autonomous behaviour
  • Gartner's Balaji Abbabatulla raised concerns about multi-vendor orchestration, suggesting limited utility outside Oracle's own ecosystem
  • Hinchcliffe also flagged the lock-in effect: embedding AI directly into Fusion 'makes it harder for customer enterprises to migrate away'
  • Some advanced custom agent scenarios fall outside the included allowance and require a separate Custom AI Agent Subscription, so 'free' has a boundary worth mapping before design

AI Agent Studio is not sold separately — if you have a Fusion Applications subscription you already own it, with no extra fee to build agents or put Oracle-built agents into production. Every Fusion Cloud subscription also includes 20,000 AI Units per month, one AI Unit being one US cent, and consumption beyond that allowance is metered at that rate. Some advanced or high-volume custom agent scenarios require a separate Custom AI Agent Subscription, so model your expected AI Unit burn before committing. The underlying Fusion subscription itself is negotiated and unpublished.

Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications launched on 20 March 2025 as the platform for designing, testing and deploying AI agents and agent teams across Oracle's cloud suite, front office to back office. Rather than a standalone agent framework, it is a build environment wired directly into Fusion's data, workflows, policies and approval hierarchies, so an agent a customer creates inherits the same role-based access and traceability as the transactional application it sits in. At Oracle AI World on 15 October 2025 the studio was substantially expanded: Model Context Protocol support for third-party data and tools, A2A agent cards for cross-agent collaboration, a secure credential store for API keys, multimodal and text-based retrieval-augmented generation including RAG over external sources such as SharePoint, prompt libraries with lifecycle management, expanded agent templates with a builder assistant, deterministic workflow execution with human-in-the-loop options, and a real-time observability dashboard tracking sessions, latency, errors and token usage. The same announcement opened the Fusion Applications AI Agent Marketplace for deploying Oracle-validated, partner-built agents natively, and broadened model choice to OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Google, Meta and xAI. Oracle says more than 32,000 certified experts have completed training on building agents in the studio. A further expansion on 24 March 2026 added an Agentic Applications Builder and new intelligent workflow tools. Commercially the studio is deliberately bundled: every Fusion Cloud subscription includes AI Agent Studio, Marketplace access and 20,000 AI Units per month at no additional charge, with one AI Unit equal to one US cent, a structure analysts read as a direct counter to per-transaction agent pricing elsewhere in the market.

Ideal Buyer

The Fusion Applications platform owner or enterprise architect who already runs Oracle as the system of record and wants to build custom agents on that data without buying and integrating a separate agent platform.

Key Benefit

Custom agents that read and write live Fusion data under the suite's existing permissions and audit trail, with the build environment and 20,000 AI Units a month already paid for by the Fusion subscription.

Key Features

  • Agent and agent-team builder

Design, test and deploy individual agents or coordinated teams that operate natively inside Fusion business processes.

  • Model Context Protocol support

Connects agents to third-party data sources and tools through MCP instead of bespoke integration code for each system.

  • A2A agent cards

Lets agents discover and collaborate with each other across boundaries, including partner agents from the Marketplace.

  • Multimodal RAG including external sources

Retrieval-augmented generation over Fusion data and outside repositories such as SharePoint, so agents answer from documents too.

  • Observability dashboard

Real-time monitoring of sessions, latency, errors and token usage, plus tracing and agent performance evaluation for production debugging.

  • Prompt libraries with lifecycle management

Centralised, versioned prompts and topic management keep agent behaviour consistent as teams iterate across a large estate.

  • Secure credential store

Holds API keys and authentication material for agent tool calls rather than leaving secrets embedded in agent definitions.

  • Multi-model choice

OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Google, Meta and xAI models are selectable, so agent design is not locked to one vendor's model.

Use Cases

  • Custom finance approval agent

Encodes an organisation's own approval thresholds and policy checks on top of Fusion ERP transactional data.

  • HR service desk agent

Answers employee questions using RAG over policy documents in SharePoint plus live Fusion HCM records.

  • Partner-built vertical agents

Implementation partners package industry-specific agents and distribute them through the Fusion AI Agent Marketplace.

  • Agent performance monitoring

Ops teams trace latency, errors and token spend per agent session to find regressions before users report them.

  • Human-in-the-loop procurement workflow

Deterministic execution runs sourcing steps automatically but halts at defined checkpoints for buyer sign-off.
