Norm Ai encodes statutes, regulator rulebooks and internal corporate policy into machine-executable decision trees, then runs LLM-driven agents across them to review regulated content and workflows in minutes rather than days. It is built for chief compliance officers, general counsel and risk teams at banks, asset managers, insurers and other heavily supervised enterprises that must clear marketing, disclosure and client communications before anything ships.

Use Cases

  • Marketing review for an asset manager
  • Claim substantiation tracking
  • Governing employee AI use
  • Multi-jurisdiction disclosure checks
  • Policy question answering for the front line

Ideal For

Best For

  • Pre-publication review of marketing collateral, investor decks and performance materials against SEC, FINRA and ESMA rules
  • Encoding a firm's own written policies and supervisory procedures as agents that run automatically on every artifact
  • Adding a compliance and disclosure checkpoint inside Microsoft 365 Copilot workflows in Word and PowerPoint
  • Tracking regulatory amendments across US, UK, EU, Canada and APAC without manually re-reading rulebooks
  • Producing an audit trail that shows a regulator which rule was applied to which document and why

Not Ideal For

  • Firms outside financial services and insurance — coverage, customer references and the advisory bench all skew heavily toward asset managers, banks and insurers
  • Teams wanting a general-purpose lawyer copilot for drafting and research; Harvey and Legora target that job, Norm executes encoded rules instead
  • Buyers who need published pricing or peer reviews before a pilot — Norm lists no rates and has no meaningful presence on G2, Capterra or TrustRadius
  • Small businesses without a formal compliance function, since the value depends on having written policy worth encoding

Market Analysis

Enterprise-gradeRegulated industriesCompliance automation

Pros

  • Findings are traceable to an encoded rule, which is the difference between a compliance artifact an examiner accepts and a chatbot answer they do not
  • Deep domain bench — former regulators, practising attorneys and legal engineers — rather than a generalist AI team pointed at legal text
  • Reference customers at genuine scale, with Blackstone as both investor and user and a client base representing over $30 trillion in AUM
  • Meets employees where they already work via the Microsoft 365 Copilot agent, instead of demanding a separate review portal

Cons

  • The core premise is contested: critics argue law is precedent, interpretation, negotiation and strategic ambiguity, not a machine-readable logic stack, so encoding it risks flattening exactly the judgement that matters
  • Misinterpretation is the failure mode that hurts most — an agent that reads an evolving cross-jurisdiction rule wrongly exposes the buyer to the precise risk the product was bought to remove
  • No published pricing and effectively no independent review presence on G2, Capterra, TrustRadius or PeerSpot, so buyers cannot benchmark cost or satisfaction before a pilot
  • Heavy financial-services concentration means less proven coverage for healthcare, energy or other regulated verticals
  • Regulated enterprises are slow, high-stakes buyers, and every miss is more damaging when trust is the entire value proposition

No list pricing is published anywhere — every engagement is quoted by sales, and the product is sold as an enterprise platform rather than per seat. The one pricing fact Norm does state publicly concerns its affiliated law firm, Norm Law, which bills on outcomes rather than billable hours; that is a legal-services model, not a software rate card. Expect the platform cost to track the number of encoded frameworks and reviewed artifacts, and budget separately for the legal-engineering work of encoding your own internal policies.

Norm Ai converts written regulation into executable software. A team of attorneys, former regulators and what the company calls legal engineers encodes statutes, rulebooks and internal corporate policy into a proprietary decision-tree representation, and LLM-driven agents traverse those trees to reach a reasoned compliance verdict on a specific business artifact: a marketing deck, a fund disclosure, an investor communication, a social post. The company brands the category Regulatory AI Agents and the discipline agentic law. The platform has three layers. LEAP is the development environment where legal engineers build, evaluate and deploy agents, with structured reasoning frameworks, proprietary prompt optimization, development workspaces and automated evaluation pipelines. The agent runtime executes those modules against uploaded artifacts and returns findings that cite the governing rule and flag missing disclosures, unsupported claims and policy conflicts, with tagging, commenting and version history so compliance discussion leaves email. Supervisory AI is a verification layer meant to govern other AI systems running inside regulated workflows. Coverage spans more than 100 global regulations across the US, UK, EU, Canada and Asia-Pacific, including SEC, FINRA, FTC, NAIC and ESMA frameworks. In May 2026 Norm shipped a compliance agent for Microsoft 365 Copilot that reviews content in place inside Word and PowerPoint and preserves an audit trail. Founded in 2023 by John Nay, who created NYU Law's first AI course, researched at Stanford CodeX and co-authored the LegalBench benchmark, the New York company raised a $120M Series C led by Khosla Ventures in July 2026 at a $1.2B valuation, taking total funding past $260M. Clients represent more than $30 trillion in assets under management, and Blackstone is both investor and user.

Ideal Buyer

The chief compliance officer at a regulated financial institution who owns marketing, disclosure and communications review and is the bottleneck between the business and every published document.

Key Benefit

Regulated content gets a cited, auditable compliance review in minutes instead of a multi-day queue behind a human reviewer.

Key Features

  • Regulatory decision-tree encoding

A proprietary language represents regulations and corporate policy as decision trees that agents traverse, making every verdict traceable to a specific rule rather than a model's opinion.

  • LEAP agent development platform

Structured reasoning frameworks, prompt optimization, development workspaces and automated evaluation pipelines let legal engineers build and validate agents before production.

  • Regulated content review

Analyses marketing collateral, disclosures, performance materials and social content line by line for missing disclosures, unsupported claims and policy conflicts.

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot compliance agent

Launched May 2026, it reviews and revises content in place inside Word and PowerPoint so reviewers never leave the document they are working in.

  • Supervisory AI layer

A verification tier designed to constrain and monitor other AI systems operating inside regulated workflows, which is what enterprises need before letting agents act.

  • Continuously updated regulatory coverage

More than 100 regulations across US, UK, EU, Canada and APAC are monitored for amendments so encoded decision graphs stay current.

  • Audit trail and collaboration

Tagging, commenting and historical tracking centralise compliance conversations that otherwise live in email, and produce evidence for examiners.

Use Cases

  • Marketing review for an asset manager

A fund marketing deck is checked against SEC and FINRA advertising rules and firm policy, returning cited findings in minutes instead of a multi-day compliance queue.

  • Claim substantiation tracking

Agents identify significant performance or product claims and track the evidence substantiating each one, reducing the risk of an unsupported statement reaching investors.

  • Governing employee AI use

The Microsoft 365 Copilot agent reviews AI-assisted drafts in place, so a regulated firm can widen Copilot access without losing disclosure control or auditability.

  • Multi-jurisdiction disclosure checks

Communications going to UK, EU and APAC clients are evaluated against each region's encoded framework rather than a single US-centric checklist.

  • Policy question answering for the front line

Staff query encoded internal policy and procedure directly, cutting the volume of routine interpretation requests that reach the compliance team.
