Instead of fixed 16:9 slides it uses flexible "cards" that scroll like a web page, so a single piece can be presented live, shared as a link with viewer analytics, or exported to PDF, PowerPoint or PNG. It was founded in San Francisco in late 2020 by former Optimizely colleagues Grant Lee, Jon Noronha and James Fox. In November 2025 it raised a $68 million Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz at a $2.1 billion valuation, taking total funding to about $91 million, and said it had passed $100 million in ARR with roughly 50 employees, more than 70 million users and over 400 million pieces of content created. Its 2025 releases included Gamma 3.0 with a built-in AI design agent and a public REST API that generates content from text or adapts an existing template, creates branded images, and lists themes and folders. The API runs asynchronously, draws on the same AI-credit balance as the app, requires a Pro, Ultra, Team or Business plan, and plugs into Zapier, Make, n8n and an MCP server for Claude. Credit use scales with card count and image model. For organisations, the Business tier adds SSO, SOC 2 documentation and a locked training opt-out, while SCIM, audit logs and invoiced billing are reserved for Enterprise. Gamma competes with Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint, Canva, Beautiful.ai and Pitch.

Everything is metered in AI credits, whose cost rises with card count and image model: Free is a one-time 400 credits, then 1,000, 4,000 and 20,000 monthly on Plus, Pro and Ultra, plus 6,000 per member on Business. The individual prices are lower bounds, because third-party pricing breakdowns from June and July 2026 disagree on whether they reflect monthly or annual billing. Team ($20/seat) and Business ($40/member) are billed annually per member, and credits are allocated per member rather than pooled. Removing a member does not reduce the billed seat count automatically. SCIM, audit logs and invoiced billing need a quoted Enterprise contract. Since December 1, 2025, refunds are limited to a 72-hour window.
