About This Event

PAKDD 2027, the 31st Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, takes place in Wellington, New Zealand from 29 June to 2 July 2027, hosted by Victoria University of Wellington. PAKDD is one of the longest-established international conferences in data mining and knowledge discovery, and a premier forum for data science, machine learning and AI research across the Asia-Pacific. The programme combines keynotes, double-blind peer-reviewed research papers, workshops, tutorials and a doctoral consortium. Submissions run through a Research Track, an Applied Data Science Track, a Survey Track and a Special Track on Large Language Models and Agentic AI in Data Science, which this year extends the LLM focus to autonomous agents for data analysis, discovery and knowledge extraction. It follows PAKDD 2026 in Hong Kong and PAKDD 2025 in Sydney; attendance is in person.

Why Attend

For a head of data science or AI research lead, PAKDD 2027 is where the Asia-Pacific data mining community publishes applied and theoretical work a year before it reaches vendor roadmaps — this edition with a dedicated track on LLM agents for data analysis, text-to-SQL, RAG reliability and hallucination detection. It is a practical place to recruit researchers from ANZ and Asian universities, benchmark internal methods against peer-reviewed work, and submit applied papers by the 20 November 2026 deadline.

Event Features

  • Research Track: theoretical foundations, learning methods and algorithms, data processing for learning, security/privacy/ethics and information integrity, interdisciplinary applications
  • Special Track on Large Language Models and Agentic AI in Data Science (co-chairs Wenbin Zhang, Florida International University, and Mahardhika Pratama, Adelaide University)
  • Applied Data Science Track
  • Survey Track
  • Workshops and tutorials
  • Doctoral Consortium
  • Keynote presentations

What Makes This Unique

  • One of the longest-running data mining conferences (31st edition) and the main Asia-Pacific counterpart to KDD and ECML PKDD.
  • A dedicated Special Track on Large Language Models and Agentic AI in Data Science, covering LLM-driven data preparation, text-to-SQL, RAG, hallucination detection and multi-agent analysis systems.
  • Separate Applied Data Science and Survey tracks alongside the Research Track, so deployed-system and review papers have their own venue.
  • Double-blind peer review with Springer LNCS proceedings; general chairs include Albert Bifet (Télécom Paris / University of Waikato) and Longbing Cao (Macquarie University).
