About This Event

IEEE CEC 2027, the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, takes place 25–28 July 2027 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland. Held annually since 1994, it is one of the flagship conferences of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and the leading event for evolutionary computation, the branch of computational intelligence and AI concerned with search and optimisation, covering everything from theoretical foundations to real-world applications. The 2027 edition accepts full papers and short papers (published in companion proceedings), and runs special sessions, workshops, competitions and tutorials. It also offers a conference-to-journal track, journal-to-conference presentations, a graduate student symposium, and published guidelines on AI and LLM use by authors and reviewers. General chairs are Amir Hussain and Xin Yao; programme chairs are Ke Li (University of Exeter) and Bing Xue (Victoria University of Wellington).

Evolutionary computation is the part of AI that tackles scheduling, routing, design and configuration problems where gradients and labelled data do not exist, and CEC is where its methods are published first. An R&D or operations-technology leader can see which optimisation approaches are maturing for supply chains, engineering design and resource allocation, meet the academic groups behind them for partnerships, and recruit from the graduate student symposium.
