About This Event

COLING 2027, the 32nd International Conference on Computational Linguistics, runs 9-14 May 2027 in Macau, China. Established in 1965 and now biennial, COLING is one of the oldest continuously running venues in natural language processing, and it deliberately rotates host regions to draw contributors from emerging research economies as well as from established institutions, research centres and industrial labs. The 2027 edition is the first COLING to route peer review through ACL Rolling Review: long and short papers commit from the October 2026 ARR cycle, with a submission deadline of 12 October 2026, and papers carrying reviews from earlier ARR cycles may also be committed. A tutorial programme, opened with a public call for expressions of interest, and a co-located workshop programme selected through the joint 2027 call shared with EACL, NAACL, ACL and EMNLP run alongside the main conference.

Why Attend

COLING is the ACL-family conference with the widest geographic spread, so for a CTO building multilingual or non-English language products it surfaces work that the US-centric venues systematically under-represent — low-resource languages, regional corpora, and evaluation outside English. The 2027 Macau edition puts that research base, and the Asia-Pacific vendor and hiring market around it, inside a single trip. The move to ACL Rolling Review this cycle also matters practically: a team's existing ARR submission can be committed here rather than re-reviewed, which materially lowers the cost of getting an internal research result into a peer-reviewed venue.

Event Features

  • Main conference long and short paper programme covering all aspects of computational linguistics and natural language processing
  • First COLING edition to run peer review through ACL Rolling Review, committing from the October 2026 ARR cycle
  • Papers carrying prior ARR reviews from earlier cycles may also be committed to COLING 2027
  • Tutorial programme, opened with a public call for expressions of interest
  • Co-located workshop programme selected through the joint 2027 call shared with EACL, NAACL, ACL and EMNLP
  • Workshop track runs its own full cycle: first call 21 November 2026, papers due 5 January 2027, camera-ready 5 March 2027

What Makes This Unique

  • Running since 1965 — the oldest continuously operating conference series in computational linguistics, now on a biennial cycle
  • Deliberately rotates host regions to draw contributors from emerging research economies as well as established institutions, giving it the widest geographic spread in the ACL conference family
  • 2027 is the first COLING to route peer review through ACL Rolling Review, so an existing ARR submission can be committed rather than re-reviewed
  • Papers with reviews from ARR cycles earlier than October 2026 may also be committed, which is unusually flexible for a top-tier venue
  • The Macau edition puts the conference in reach of the Asia-Pacific research and vendor base in a single trip
