The Munich trade fair for smart automation, robotics and Physical AI, held every two years

About This Event

automatica 2027 is the biennial trade fair for smart automation and robotics, held June 22 to 25, 2027 at Messe München in Munich, Germany, and organised by Messe München. The exhibition is split into assembly and handling, industrial robotics, service robotics, machine vision, and software and cloud computing, and the organiser names Physical AI as a major focus of the 2027 edition. Alongside the show floor runs munich_i, a high-tech platform for AI and robotics built with the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) at TUM, which includes the Hightech Summit, the AI.Society special show and the Robothon developer challenge. The 2025 edition drew 49,284 visitors from 97 countries and 798 exhibitors from 40 countries, with more than 1,100 robots on display and 270 keynotes, panels, talks and live demos. Laser World of Photonics and World of Quantum run on the same dates on the same fairgrounds.

  • ✓CTOs and R&D leaders at industrial companies
  • ✓Robotics and automation engineers
  • ✓Plant and production planners
  • ✓Machine vision and AI engineers
  • ✓SME owners evaluating first automation projects

Why Attend

For a COO, CTO or head of manufacturing deciding where AI-driven robotics fits in their plants, automatica puts the hardware, the vision systems and the integrators in six halls for four days. You can compare industrial robots, cobots, mobile robots and humanoids side by side, then take the Physical AI questions to the munich_i Hightech Summit, where the research behind them is presented. Half of the 2025 visitors came from companies with fewer than 200 staff, so it also suits teams scoping a first automation project, and the co-located photonics and quantum fairs add sensing and laser suppliers to the same trip.

Event Features

  • ✓Exhibition sector: Assembly & Handling
  • ✓Exhibition sector: Industrial Robotics
  • ✓Exhibition sector: Service Robotics
  • ✓Exhibition sector: Machine Vision
  • ✓Exhibition sector: Software and Cloud Computing
  • ✓munich_i Hightech Summit
  • ✓AI.Society special show
  • ✓Robothon developer challenge
  • ✓Co-located Laser World of Photonics and World of Quantum (June 22-25, 2027)

What Makes This Unique

  • ★Europe's large robotics show floor: the 2025 edition put more than 1,100 robots on display across six halls, from industrial arms and cobots to mobile robots and humanoids.
  • ★munich_i ties the fair to academic AI research through MIRMI at TUM, with the Hightech Summit, the AI.Society special show and the Robothon developer challenge.
  • ★Decision-heavy audience: in 2025, 83% of visitors were decision-makers and 20% were top-level management, per the organiser's figures.
  • ★Co-located with Laser World of Photonics and World of Quantum on the same dates, so one trip covers robotics, photonics and quantum suppliers.
  • ★Held every two years, so the 2027 edition is the main European robotics showcase until 2029.
