About This Event

SPIE Medical Imaging 2027 runs 14-18 February 2027 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is a multidisciplinary meeting made up of nine constituent conferences — Physics of Medical Imaging; Image Processing; Computer-Aided Diagnosis; Image-Guided and Robotic Interventions; Image Perception, Observer Performance and Technology Assessment; Clinical and Biomedical Imaging; Imaging Informatics; Ultrasonic Imaging and Tomography; and Digital and Computational Pathology — with an explicit emphasis on deep learning, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in medical imaging. The Computer-Aided Diagnosis conference accepts original work on both conventional and deep-learning CAD approaches. The call for papers is open: abstracts were due 5 August 2026, authors are notified and the programme posts on 26 October 2026, and archival manuscripts are due 27 January 2027.

  • Medical device and imaging R&D engineers
  • Computational and digital pathology researchers
  • Clinical validation and regulatory affairs specialists

Why Attend

For a health system's imaging leadership or a medical-device product team, this is where the evidence behind radiology AI is actually built and contested a year or two before it reaches a procurement conversation. Attending gives a clinical or technical leader a read on which deep-learning CAD methods are reproducible, how observer-performance studies are being designed to assess them, and where computational pathology and imaging informatics are heading. The archival proceedings and the perception/technology-assessment conference make it a rare venue where AI imaging claims arrive with an evaluation methodology attached.

Event Features

  • Physics of Medical Imaging conference
  • Image Processing conference
  • Computer-Aided Diagnosis conference (conventional and deep-learning approaches)
  • Image-Guided and Robotic Interventions conference
  • Image Perception, Observer Performance and Technology Assessment conference
  • Clinical and Biomedical Imaging conference
  • Imaging Informatics conference
  • Ultrasonic Imaging and Tomography conference
  • Digital and Computational Pathology conference

What Makes This Unique

  • Nine constituent conferences under one meeting, spanning imaging physics through computer-aided diagnosis to computational pathology — the full chain from detector to diagnosis in one week
  • The Computer-Aided Diagnosis conference explicitly accepts both conventional and deep-learning approaches, so new methods are presented alongside the established baselines they claim to beat
  • Archival manuscripts, not just slides: full papers are due 27 January 2027 and publish in the SPIE Digital Library, so the work presented is citable and reviewable
  • Includes Image Perception, Observer Performance and Technology Assessment — a whole conference on how imaging technology is evaluated against human readers, which is exactly the evidence AI imaging claims need
