ML4H 2026 — Machine Learning for Health Symposium
by Association for Health Learning and Inference (AHLI)
The research symposium for machine learning in health, held in Sydney immediately before NeurIPS 2026
About This Event
ML4H 2026, the sixth Machine Learning for Health Symposium, takes place December 6–7, 2026 at the SMC Conference & Function Centre (Sydney Masonic Centre) in Sydney, Australia, immediately before NeurIPS 2026. Run by the Association for Health Learning and Inference (AHLI), it grew out of the Machine Learning for Health workshop held at NeurIPS from 2016 to 2020, and its archival proceedings have appeared in PMLR every year since 2019. Submissions are organised into three areas: models and methods; applications and practice, covering evaluation and deployment; and impact and society, covering policy, public health and economics. The archival Proceedings track has an eight-page limit, and a non-archival Findings track welcomes datasets, negative results and preliminary directions. Papers were due September 10, 2026.

Topics & Focus Areas
Who Should Attend
- ✓Chief medical information officers and health AI leaders
- ✓Clinical data science teams
- ✓Healthcare ML researchers
- ✓Digital health product leaders
- ✓Public health and health-policy analysts
- ✓Life sciences R&D data scientists
Why Attend
For health-system CMIOs, digital health product leads and pharma data science heads, ML4H is where clinical ML is judged on evaluation and deployment evidence rather than on a leaderboard. A whole research area is devoted to how models are validated, interpreted and put into practice, and another to their policy and economic impact — exactly the questions a hospital or payer faces before signing off on a model. It sits immediately before NeurIPS, so a health AI team can combine both in a single Sydney trip.
Event Features
- ✓Proceedings track (archival, PMLR, up to 8 pages)
- ✓Findings track (non-archival, up to 4 pages; datasets and negative results welcome)
- ✓Area 1: Models and Methods — Algorithms, Inference, and Estimation
- ✓Area 2: Applications and Practice — Investigation, Evaluation, Interpretation, and Deployment
- ✓Area 3: Impact and Society — Policy, Public Health, Social Outcomes, and Economics
- ✓Early Career Travel Grants
What Makes This Unique
- ★Focused specifically on machine learning for health, and scheduled in Sydney right before NeurIPS so attendees can combine the two
- ★Archival proceedings published in PMLR every year since 2019 (volumes 116 through 297)
- ★A dedicated 'Applications and Practice' area on evaluation and deployment, not just new methods
- ★Grew out of the NeurIPS ML4H workshop series that began in 2016
