Geneva AI Summit 2027
by Swiss Confederation — DETEC and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs
The fifth international AI summit, hosted by Switzerland
About This Event
The Geneva AI Summit 2027 is the fifth in the series of international AI summits that began at Bletchley Park in 2023 and ran through Seoul (2024), Paris (2025) and New Delhi (2026), with the UAE lined up to host in 2028. Switzerland stages it at Palexpo in Geneva on 21–22 June 2027, organised by the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, with the Confederation funding more than half the cost and sponsorship covering the balance. It is scheduled back-to-back with the ITU's AI for Good Global Summit at the same venue. Two strategic priorities frame the programme: seizing the opportunities of AI as a driver of prosperity and progress for all, and fostering trustworthy, responsible and safe use. Participation spans governments, international organisations, academia, the private sector and civil society, and the organisers state plainly that core-venue capacity is limited and places will be allocated. The run-up runs through a 'Road to Geneva' series of thematic pre-events from late summer 2026, a Call for Issues in autumn 2026, and a side-events proposal window in early 2027.

Why Attend
This is the summit where the next round of cross-border AI rules gets negotiated, and enterprise participation is how a company's deployment reality reaches the text before it hardens. For a CIO or chief risk officer running AI across jurisdictions, the value is early sight of where the European, US, Chinese and Global South positions are converging or splitting — which is the difference between building one compliance programme and four. Because places are allocated rather than sold, the practical action sits in 2026: engage the Call for Issues and the 'Road to Geneva' consultations rather than waiting for a registration link to appear.

What Makes This Unique
- ★The fifth edition of the state-level international AI summit series (Bletchley → Seoul → Paris → New Delhi → Geneva), not another commercial conference.
- ★Convened by the Swiss Confederation, with more than half the cost carried by public funds rather than sponsors — the agenda is not for sale.
- ★Scheduled back-to-back with the ITU AI for Good Global Summit at the same Geneva venue, so one trip covers both the diplomatic and the applied track.
- ★Core-venue capacity is explicitly limited and places are allocated rather than sold, so attending is an accreditation process, not a ticket purchase.
