About This Event

FORGE 2027, the International Conference on AI Foundation Models and Software Engineering, runs 26-27 April 2027 at The Convention Centre Dublin, co-located with ICSE 2027 in Dublin, Ireland. The conference exists to bring researchers, practitioners and educators from the AI and software engineering communities together on the new problems created by foundation models: how large language models change code generation, testing, code review and automated program repair, and what breaks when they are put into a real development pipeline. The 2027 edition runs two tracks — Research Papers and a Data and Benchmarking track dedicated to the datasets and evaluation harnesses the field is short of. Research paper abstracts are due 25 October 2026 and papers 30 October 2026; the Data and Benchmarking deadline is 15 November 2026, with notifications for both tracks on 4 January 2027.

  • PhD students working at the AI/SE intersection

Why Attend

Every large engineering organisation is now deploying foundation models into the software lifecycle and almost none can say what the measured effect is. FORGE is the venue where those claims are tested: code generation, automated repair, LLM-driven testing and review, each with reviewers from both the AI and software engineering sides. The Data and Benchmarking track matters most to a buyer, because it is where the evaluation harnesses come from — the difference between a vendor's benchmark number and a measurement you can reproduce on your own repositories before committing a platform decision.

Event Features

  • Research Papers track (abstract 25 October 2026, paper 30 October 2026)
  • Data and Benchmarking track (paper 15 November 2026)
  • Programme focused on code generation, testing, code review and program repair
  • Co-located with ICSE 2027 at The Convention Centre Dublin
  • Camera-ready proceedings in January 2027 ahead of the April conference

What Makes This Unique

  • A separate Data and Benchmarking track — the evaluation problem gets its own reviewing process rather than being a paragraph in someone's results section
  • Explicitly a joint AI + software engineering venue: the modelling side and the engineering side are reviewed in the same room, which is rare
  • Scoped tightly to foundation models in the software lifecycle — code generation, testing, code review and program repair — rather than AI in general
  • Co-located with ICSE 2027, so the foundation-model work is presented next to the mainstream software engineering research it claims to change
