About This Event

ECAI 2027, the 28th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence, runs 2-7 October 2027 in Athens, Greece. The pre-conference programme of workshops and tutorials is hosted at the School of Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on 2-3 October, and the main technical conference moves to the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre for 4-7 October. ECAI is the general-AI conference supported by the European Association for Artificial Intelligence, and this edition carries its usual sister events alongside the main track: STAIRS for starting researchers and PAIS for prestigious applications of AI. Open calls cover the main track, demonstrations, the doctoral consortium, journal-track papers, workshops and tutorials. Review runs in two phases with a formal rebuttal window in June 2027 before the July notification.

Why Attend

For an enterprise research or applied-AI leader, ECAI is where the European AI research base is visible in one place, typically a year or more ahead of productisation — these are the methods that turn up in vendor roadmaps two to three years later. The PAIS sister conference is the specific reason to send an applied team: it exists for prestigious, deployed applications of AI rather than benchmark scores, so it is the part of the programme that maps onto systems a CIO would actually have to operate. The doctoral consortium and STAIRS are the recruiting surface, and the rebuttal-based review means the papers you read there have already survived an argument.

Event Features

  • Main technical track (full-paper submission due 14 April 2027)
  • Workshops and tutorials programme, 2-3 October 2027 at the NKUA School of Science
  • STAIRS sister conference for starting researchers
  • PAIS sister conference on prestigious applications of AI
  • Demonstrations track
  • Doctoral consortium
  • Journal track

What Makes This Unique

  • The general-AI conference supported by the European Association for Artificial Intelligence — a Europe-wide venue across the whole field rather than a single-topic workshop.
  • Two-phase review with a formal rebuttal window (15-18 June 2027) before the 15 July 2027 author notification, so authors get to answer their reviewers.
  • Runs its sister conferences alongside the main track: STAIRS for starting researchers and PAIS for prestigious applications of AI.
  • Split-venue format — university-hosted workshops and tutorials on 2-3 October at NKUA, then the main programme at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre.
