About This Event

AAMAS 2027, the 26th International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, runs 3-7 May 2027 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. AAMAS is the flagship event of the International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems and the largest and most influential conference covering agent and agentic technology; the 2027 edition is organised by the University of Warwick's Department of Computer Science. Its call for papers is divided into eleven areas including a dedicated Generative and Agentic AI track for agent architectures built on generative models, alongside learning and adaptation, game theory and economic paradigms, coordination and norms and ethics, search and planning and scheduling, representation and reasoning, engineering and analysis of multiagent systems, simulation of artificial societies, human-agent interaction, robotics and control, and innovative applications and societal impact.

Why Attend

Every large enterprise is now deploying something it calls an agent, and the hard questions — how agents coordinate without deadlocking, how to bound what one can commit the business to, how to price and allocate work between them, what happens when incentives conflict — were answered, or shown to be unanswerable, in this community long before the current wave. A CTO or head of AI leaves AAMAS with the failure modes their vendor's demo did not show, a governance vocabulary drawn from the COINE literature, and access to the researchers whose work the agent frameworks are built on.

Event Features

  • Main track — author registration 17 September 2026, abstracts 1 October 2026, papers 8 October 2026
  • Blue Sky Ideas track with its own OpenReview timeline
  • Area: Generative and Agentic AI (GAAI)
  • Area: Learning and Adaptation (LEARN) — reinforcement learning and multiagent learning
  • Area: Coordination, Organizations, Institutions, Norms and Ethics (COINE)
  • Area: Game Theory and Economic Paradigms (GTEP) — auctions and mechanism design
  • Area: Engineering and Analysis of Multiagent Systems (EMAS)
  • Area: Human-Agent Interaction (HAI), Robotics and Control (ROBOT), and Innovative Applications and Societal Impact (IASI)
  • Author rebuttal period 20-24 November 2026

What Makes This Unique

  • The field's own conference: enterprises are buying 'agentic AI' from vendors whose architectures descend directly from thirty years of AAMAS research on coordination, negotiation and norms
  • A dedicated Generative and Agentic AI (GAAI) area was added as one of eleven top-level tracks, so LLM-based agent architectures are reviewed by people who have studied agent failure modes for decades
  • The COINE area covers coordination, organizations, institutions, norms and ethics — the closest thing that exists to a research base for governing autonomous agents inside a company
  • A separate Blue Sky Ideas track on OpenReview with its own timeline, for speculative work that a standard programme committee would reject
  • Eleven distinct areas each with their own committee, which is why the programme spans game theory, robotics, simulation and human-agent interaction rather than converging on one method
