About This Event

OSDI '27, the 21st USENIX Symposium on Operating Systems Design and Implementation, takes place 7-9 July 2027 at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. OSDI is one of the two venues, with SOSP, where the systems research that ends up running the world's infrastructure is first published — schedulers, storage engines, kernels, distributed runtimes and, for most of the past decade, the machine-learning systems layer: training infrastructure, inference and LLM serving engines, GPU memory management and multi-tenant accelerator scheduling. Its preliminary call for papers is open, with abstract registrations due 1 December 2026 and complete submissions a week later. Papers are selected by a single programme committee and presented over three days, and USENIX publishes proceedings open-access, free to read the day they appear.

Who Should Attend

  • VPs of Infrastructure and Platform Engineering
  • AI infrastructure leads
  • Distributed systems engineers
  • Cloud and datacenter architects
  • Performance and capacity engineers
  • Systems researchers

Why Attend

If you are sizing a GPU fleet, choosing an inference-serving stack or deciding whether to build or buy an AI platform, OSDI is where the designs behind those products are argued in public with measurements attached. An infrastructure leader leaves with a defensible view of what is actually achievable in utilisation, latency and multi-tenancy at your scale, the ability to test a vendor's roadmap against published research, and direct access to the engineers who built the systems your platform will be compared with.

Event Features

  • Preliminary call for papers open, with abstract registration on 1 December 2026 and complete papers on 8 December 2026
  • Three-day technical programme at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor, 7-9 July 2027
  • Open-access proceedings published by the USENIX Association
  • Systems-for-ML work — training infrastructure, inference serving, accelerator scheduling — as a recurring share of the programme

What Makes This Unique

  • With SOSP, one of the two venues where foundational systems work is published first — the GPU-scheduling and inference-serving designs that reach cloud products years later start here
  • USENIX publishes proceedings and presentation media open-access on day one, so the work is usable by teams that never bought a ticket
  • Small, single-track and heavily industry-attended: the hyperscaler engineers running the systems being described are in the audience
  • Twenty-first edition of a series running since 1994, which makes its citation record a reliable filter on what actually lasted
