CogSci 2027 — Annual Conference of the Cognitive Science Society
by Cognitive Science Society
Human Cognition in the Age of AI, in Bilbao, 28-31 July 2027
About This Event
CogSci 2027 is the annual conference of the Cognitive Science Society, held at the Euskalduna Bilbao Convention Centre in Bilbao, Spain, from 28 to 31 July 2027. Its theme is "Human Cognition in the Age of AI". The meeting brings together researchers in artificial intelligence, linguistics, anthropology, psychology, neuroscience, philosophy and education who study how minds work, and it is where much of the work comparing human reasoning with large language models and other AI systems is presented. The 2027 programme is chaired by Marta Kryven (Dalhousie University), Tianmin Shu (Johns Hopkins University), Chris Lucas and Bonan Zhao (University of Edinburgh) and Ilia Sucholutsky (New York University). Under the society's three-year cycle, which runs a fully synchronous hybrid meeting every third year starting in 2025, 2027 falls in an in-person year.

Why Attend
CogSci is a research meeting, so the value for a head of AI or applied science is upstream. Researchers here study where AI systems reason like people and where they fail, how humans trust or over-rely on model output, and how people learn alongside AI tools. If your team designs agents or copilots that people must supervise, these results bear directly on interface design and evaluation, and the meeting is a strong place to recruit researchers with that background.
Event Features
- ✓Conference theme: Human Cognition in the Age of AI
- ✓Four-day meeting at the Euskalduna Bilbao Convention Centre
- ✓CogSci Grove, the society's programme for offsetting conference travel emissions
What Makes This Unique
- ★The 2027 theme, Human Cognition in the Age of AI, makes the relationship between people and AI systems the organising question of the whole meeting.
- ★It is genuinely interdisciplinary: AI shares the programme with linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, anthropology, philosophy and education.
- ★The programme chairs come from groups that work on computational models of human reasoning and on human and AI alignment, at Johns Hopkins, Edinburgh and NYU.
